Tim Flavin
West End and Broadway's Olivier award winning Actor |
Tim Flavin is the first American actor to be presented with the Laurence Olivier Award for
his performance in Rodgers and Hart's On Your Toes at the Palace Theatre. Other
West End credits include the role of Billy Buck Chandler in My One And Only at the
Piccadilly Theatre for which he was again nominated for an Olivier Award for best actor
in a musical. His performance prompted one critic to say, "When God created musicals, it
was because he knew that Tim Flavin would come along." (The Scotsman 26 Feb. 02) The
role of Bobby Child in Crazy For You at the Prince Edward garnered another best
actor nomination.
Other stage roles include: Buddy Plummer in Follies (London Palladium); Caractacus Potts
in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK tour): Gay Divorce (Palace Theatre);
Kiss Me Kate for the RSC (Stratford, Old Vic and Savoy); the title role in Dracula
(Lyric Hammersmith); Terence Rattigan's While The Sun Shines (UK tour); the
tenth anniversary production of Side by Side by Sondheim (Donmar
Warehouse); Bobby in Company (Oldham Theatre); Milt in What About Love
(Holland Park); Brad in The Rocky Horror Show (UK tour); Bobby van Husen in
Divorce Me, Darling (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Billy Flynn in Chicago
(Baalbeck International Festival). British premieres include Will Eno's Tragedy: A Tragedy (Notting Hill Gate); Baby (Manchester Forum/UK tour); Nick the Tap
Dancing Detective in The Case of the Dead Flamingo Dancer (Thorndike
Theatre, Leatherhead and Churchill Theatre, Bromley); Christopher Gill in No Way To Treat A Lady (London Arts Theatre); Phil Davis in White Christmas
(Plymouth, Southampton, Edinburgh and Cardiff), and Julian Marsh in the UK Tour of
42nd Street. He directed and starred in Wizard of OZ at Theatre Royal,
Brighton. He has starred in the National Tour of Singin' in the Rain and once
again played the lead role in 42nd Street at Chichester Festival Theatre. Tim will be
repeating his role this Christmas at the Leicester Curve.
Tim's most recent television and film credits include Clone for BBC 3, The Newsreader in
Hellboy 2 directed by Guillermo del Toro, Joe Bulik in the BBC2 film The Spy From Moscow and Johnnie Ray in the BBC drama series The Long Firm. Other
film credits include Coins in the Fountain for USTV; The Launch and
Newton's Cradle for Mad Dog Films. He is currently the narrator for the
American series Airline. Radio credits include Songs From The Shows; Friday Night Is Music Night; Finian's Rainbow; Anything Goes for BBC Radio 2; Will Parker in Oklahoma as part of the Proms at the Royal Albert
Hall; and for the Richard Rodgers centennial - Joey in Pal Joey and Junior in On Your Toes with the BBC Concert Orchestra and most recently with Joel Grey in a Kander And EBB Special, for Radio 2.
