Robert Cousins
Musical Director

Robert studied music at the University of Huddersfield specialising in Viola, Piano, Conducting and Composition. After gaining his degree he completed a PGCE at Middlesex University.
Over the last fifteen years Robert has worked extensively in the West End and around the UK. As Musical Director he has worked on Mack and Mabel (Criterion Theatre) and Calamity Jane (Shaftsbury Theatre), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Hot Mikado, By Jeeves, Gotta Sing Gotta Dance, Dames at Sea, Nunsense (all UK national tours), and Barnum and Stepping Out (Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne) As an assistant MD recent work includes UK national tours of 42ND ST, Grease, Me and My Girl, High Society, Singing in the Rain and Oklahoma.
As an arranger, work includes original arrangements for Calamity Jane (West End) and new music for the UK tour of ‘Last of the Summer Wine’.
Robert is a regular guest tutor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, having MD’d productions of Godspell, Children of Eden, Baby, Rags and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas as well as training students for their final West End Singing Showcase.
