James was nominated for a Lawrence Olivier Award for best supporting performance in a musical for The Who's Tommy at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London.

Other Theatre credits include: Colin in The Secret Garden (West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Birmingham Rep); Peter in Peter Pan (the Royal Festival Hall, opposite Richard Wilson and at the West Yorkshire Playhouse); the original London cast of Wicked playing Boq with Idina Menzel (Apollo Victoria Theatre); Hinkley in Assassins (Sheffield Crucible, TMA nomination); Rusty in Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria and Original UK Tour); Marilyn in Taboo (UK tour); Nick in Fame (Sweden Arena tour); Lucius in Julius Caesar and Iras in Antony and Cleopatra at Shakespeare's Globe, under the direction of Mark Rylance; Lamar in Godspell (Chichester Festival Theatre); Golem (New End, Hampstead); Pippin in Pippin (Bridewell Theatre); Benjamin and cover for Phillip Schofield in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK Tour); and the title role in James and the Giant Peach (UK tour).

Concert highlights include: Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th Birthday and Stephen Sondeim's 80th Birthday celebrations at the magnificent Royal Albert Hall.

On TV, James has appeared in: Orrible; Doctors; Casualty; The Seven Industrial Wonders of the World (all for the BBC); A Tale of Two Cities (NBC); and most recently, The Inbetweeners (Channel 4).

James has always loved performing in Cabaret throughout his career, most recently at the stunningly refurbished and world famous Savoy Hotel in London.
